Valarie Carter is a classically trained chef, food and wine columnist, wife and mom. A Webbers Falls, OK native and graduate of Fort Gibson HS, Valarie earned a B.A. in English from Oklahoma State University and an Associate of Arts in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Atlanta. She’s continued her education by taking food and wine classes at the CIA in Napa Valley. Besides extensive work in hotels and country clubs, she spent nearly 5 years as personal chef for families in Oklahoma City and Atlanta, GA. She has experience in food and beverage operations, catering and worked as a special events coordinator in Oklahoma City, planning and organizing events for Bricktown Entertainment. Carter also served as culinary arts faculty instructor at OSU-IT for 5 years. She enjoys preparing tasting and wine dinners, teaching classes, gardening and using her culinary skills to support philanthropic organizations. She resides in Bixby with her husband and 2 children.
